The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation affirms its founder’s vision of a world in which each of us is in partnership with the rest of the human race. The Foundation seeks to strengthen, in people and their organizations, what Mr. Mott called “the capacity for accomplishment.”

Established in the early part of 1998, the Chez Cora Foundation’s mission is to aid children in need. The Foundation supports and works in collaboration with non-profit organizations trying to improve the quality of life of Canadian children.

The Foundation provides grants to the Children’s Aid Society of Halifax, and to community based groups located in Halifax in partnership with the Children’s Aid Society. The Foundation also makes grants available to children in care, or formerly in care, from other parts of the province.

The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is a registered foundation designated to provide support and address situations unique to the First Nations community. The Foundation will supply grants to individuals with a goal of developing youth as future community leaders.

The Drummond Foundation is dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for socially, mentally or physically disadvantaged elderly individuals and their families.

Since its inception in 2001, the Krembil Foundation has funded grants across Canada for a wide range of charitable purposes benefiting all Canadians. While the particular fields of interest have evolved over the years the primary focus of the Krembil Foundation has remained the same. The Krembil Foundation has a mandate centered on helping people by supporting medical research and education.

Boucher-Lambert Fondation funds general charitable projects, with primary interest in hunger and suffering relief, in third world countries and some local organizations. Interests include: Charitable Foundations, Trusts and Service Clubs; Social Services; Hospitals; Poverty

The relief of poverty by aid to impoverished individuals and families, and the furthering education through scholarships and bursaries.

Roasters Foundation is a Montreal-based charitable organization that engages in and promotes entrepreneurial philanthropy, education and innovative healthcare programs to improve Canadian living standards.

The START Program encourages employers to hire Nova Scotians requiring work experience. Financial incentives are provided to employers with a labour need willing to support ready-to-work Nova Scotians. Incentives vary depending on the type of employment offered and the skill level of the employee.

Founded by TD Bank Group in 1990, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) is a national charity that funds environmental projects across Canada. With the support of more than 150,000 donors, TD FEF has provided approximately $70 million to over 23,000 environmental projects and programs.

The Terry Fox Foundation is responsible for supporting close to $20 million in discovery based research each year in Canada - all monies raised outside Canada must be distributed to (a) an institute approved by the Foundation and its advisors or (b) remitted to Canada. The Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) is a recipient of TFF funding for translational research. TFRI is an exciting new initiative whose goal is to translate rapidly today's best science into better cancer treatment and diagnosis for all Canadians. The Institute will bring scientists and clinicians together across the country into a functionally integrated, geographically dispersed Institute with nodes in several provinces.
